The Old Course iPhone Game Review

The Old Course based on St. Andrews Links in Scotland where the golf championship thing is being currently held (I really don't follow any sports but golf I know literally nothing about). I do however know that St Andrews golf course is very very old and has a lot of history embedded within golf.

The only other golf game I had played on the iPhone before The Old Course is Lets Golf by Gameloft which is good. The Old Course however is a completely different take on Lets Golf if your familiar with that. Instead of being able to see the golf course and the player in third person, you see just the ball and a birds eye view of the course. You have a nice range of clubs to choose from to use on different terrains ect. The game is also nice and helpful by showing you which direction the hole is in with an arrow.

The controls are very simple, your finger basically acts as the golf club. You swipe your finger across the screen and hit the ball. How fast it travels and which direction it goes in is up to where you positioned your finger and how fast you swiped. This doesn't sound like you would be able to get the most accurate of shots but it works great in practise. Once the ball is in the air you can tilt your iPhone and iPod Touch to create a spin on the ball.

The graphics are quite simple and basic but buildings are 3D and adjust their view along with the camera which is a nice touch. You see everything you need to and I have yet to see the camera go wrong which is impressive. You are basically on one giant golf course because St Andrews is all one which is represented within the game, so it all looks pretty much the same with the bright two tone grass and bright yellowy sand, its all rather cartoony.

The sound track is like it was ripped straight out of Wii Sports which I like but it goes on and on during you play which get really annoying but you can turn it of. The atmosphere isn't amazing you hear the same bird tweet once in a while and the same bounces from the ball as it hits the ground but apart from that its all you hear.

Having said all this The Old Course is really genuinely fun. I had a lot more enjoyment with this than I ever did with Lets Golf. Getting the ball into that dam hole feels a lot more achievable here and that you are in a lot more control which you are.

Overall I would recommend The Old Course to those who are like me and don't know to much about golf and just want to have a bit of fun easily and simply, If you want something with a little more umpth, try Tiger Woods or the upcoming Lets Golf 2.

The Most Addictive Flash (iPhone) Game of the Year - Totomi

This week there was a new free-to-play flash game released by Rovio Mobile called Totomi. Totomi is available freely online and will be available for purchase as an iPhone game in the coming weeks. Totomi could be the most addictive flash game ever! Totomi's graphics are of excellent quality and the upcoming Totomi iPhone game will offer even more! The basic idea of the game is to build as many totems as high as possible and as fast as possible. To build totems in Totomi you must pile animals from assembly lines into three game slots and the object is to get as many points as possible before time runs out by building these totems. To grow the Totomi totems you must match animals together and the higher totems you build the more time you will be given. Totomi's totem building system is based on the animals' relationships to each other and to different kinds of plants- e.g.: If the animals mate, if they're friendly or whether one animal eats the other animal. The game is totally violence free and suitable for all ages.

An example of how to build totems is if you place a zebra on top of another zebra in one of the slots this means there has been breeding, which allows your "totomi" to grow. Another way to make your totem grow is through eating. An example of this is if the assembly line gives you a leaf you can feed the leaf to all plant eating animals like zebras, mice, beavers, elephants, foxes, hippos and bears and, once consumed, your "totomi" grows. Also in the game beavers can eat wood and fish. Birds can eat mice and fish. Lions can eat birds, mice, zebras and beavers. Foxes can eat mice, birds and beavers. Cats eat birds, fish and mice. Bears eat fish; crocodiles eat fish, birds, zebras, lions, cats, foxes and beavers.

Totems in Totomi are also built by making friend totems. These totems consist of animals that get along in the wild. For example birds, zebras, elephants and hippos can all be together in a friendly Totomi totem.

If you have a large animal (elephant, hippo or bear) that doesn't fit into any of your totems being built it will cause the animals in the totems to get angry or scarred and when the larger animal is dropped the animals below it in the totem get scared and get pushed away.

If your time is running out you can cash in your Totomi totem by placing a non-matching animal on top of the totem you have built, for example by placing a bird on top of a totem made up of zebras.

Totomi is one of the most addictive flash games I've ever played. It may be hard to understand the first time you play, but if you play it twice you're hooked as you figure out the relationships between all the animals. Totomi is a game, which can be played by anyone of any age: I know a nine year old and a fifty year old who both play it and who absolutely love it!

If you're interested in playing Totomi visit totomi.com and help to make this the most popular flash game on the net, and if you love it the iPhone game will blow your socks off with enhanced graphic, a story mode and plenty more about the world of Totomi.

Top Cell Phone Apps and Games For Your iPhone

Apple's iPhone and iTouch has thousands and thousands of choices for cell phone apps and games for people of all ages. These cell phone apps make your iPhone even more fun and entertaining than it already is! Here are the top cell phone apps and games to download this year for your iPhone!

o Texas Hold 'Em - If you're a big fan of poker, you'll be a big fan of this application. Moreover, Texas Hold 'Em is a great application to learn the basics of poker. You can play with other players who are online through the WiFi gaming. It's set at a very affordable price at $4.99.

o Skype - finally, making free long distance calls are no longer limited to your desktop. You can now be free of your PC and mic and make free calls in any location that has WiFi!

o Moto Racer - Great racing games are hard to come by. However, Freeverse proved us wrong by bringing us Moto Racer. Even on easy level the game is pretty challenging!

o Birthday Reminder - Now you will never have a reason to forget your friends', family's and (God Forbid) spouse's birthdays. Birthday Reminder is a handy app that downloads all upcoming birthday information from your Facebook so you can see the upcoming birthdays of your friends even when offline.

o Scrabble - Who says you can't learn a thing or two through cell phone games? Electronic Arts has brought to us Scrabble to enhance your word skills! For big fans of word and board games, this is the perfect app for you. The classical game Scrabble is now available in iPhone, and you can get this application for as low as $4.99.

o Enigmo - This water themed game can provide kids hours of entertainment where they try to catch drips, lasers and plasmas using different gadgets and gizmos on the screen. Enigmo won an Apple Design Award as 'Best iPhone Game'.

o Monkey Ball - As the name suggests, you control a little monkey rolling inside a hamster plastic ball. Sega proves to us once again that they can develop a great game that combines challenge and good clean fun.

o Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D - Racing has never been this fun and addicting. This game is addictive in its own unique way, which will leave you playing for several hours.

o Aurora Feint - Aurora Feint is another innovative game, combining elements from puzzle games and role playing games.

o Tweetie - Now you can tweet anytime and everywhere you want through Tweetie, a very user friendly and simple Twitter client.

Be wise with your app purchases. If there is a free edition of a certain app, it is wise to try it out first before going into the purchased edition. By doing this, you will gauge how helpful, necessary or fun a particular iPhone app is. It is true that most apps cost only $0.99, but if you download too many useless apps and purchase them on a whim, your cost will accumulate from purchasing cell phone apps alone. Another option is to consider unlimited cell phone downloads.

3 Tips For iPhone Apps and Games Promotion

With more than a hundred apps added to various apps stores each day, it will be an understatement to say that it takes a great deal of effort to get your new app or game a good exposure. If you're lucky, your submitted app would remain on the new releases section for only a day or two... nothing happens if you leave it that way.

So here are 3 tips you can consider to help you make your iPhone game or application's promotion successful.

1. Make sure your application is unique, fun, exciting, polished and noteworthy. So that once it gets noticed, it could easily climb up the favorites, featured, or best pages on the apps store. This will also amplify the time that your application will remain on top

2. Build up your Social Media Presence. Create a good and unique name and make the most of various social networking sites to update your target market even before the release. For example, create a Facebook fan page or twitter account and invite a number of people in your network. This will not only make a lot of people aware about your upcoming game but once it's released, the name is already known and it will be easy for other people to search for it.

3. Patiently request for review on several iPhone review sites or blogs. Sending these review request emails will eventually pay off because once your iPhone applications are reviewed, it will get a higher chance to be discovered and get noticed big time.
