How to Play DS Games on Your 3DS In Native DS Resolution

After picking up a Nintendo 3DS over the weekend, and after playing "Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars" for a couple of hours I decided to fire up "Sim City DS" to compare how the older DS games played, and to be fair I love a bit of Sim City now and then.

What I noticed though, is that the 3DS will stretch out original Nintendo DS games so the image can look a little pixellated, I decided to quit out of the game and have a little look at the system settings on the main menu to see if I could find any options to optimise the picture quality.

No, there are no options.

After a little bit of playing about though, the solution came to me.

After turning on your 3DS with your DS game inserted:

Press and hold the Select and Start buttons, these are on the left and right of the Home button below the touch screen
With Select and Start held down, select the DS game icon to launch it
Keep both buttons held down until the game has loaded
When the game has loaded, release the buttons

When the game has loaded up it will now be in its native resolution,

This does come with Pro's and Con's to this though.

Pro

Image is a lot clearer

Game runs a little smoother

You are still able to play all your favourite DS games the way they were meant to be played

Con

Black borders, instead of the black borders being slightly noticeable on the left and right sides of the top screen, they will now be roughly 1/2 inch thick on the left and right sides, and just over 1/4 inch thick on the top. With roughly 1/4 inch on 3 sides on the bottom screen.

To me this is not too much of an issue, but to other's this may be a bit off-putting.

In all I'm quite happy with how the 3DS has been performing, this is nothing more than minor irritation though. I am looking forward to the future releases and will enjoy playing my old DS games for a long time to come, and as long as Nintendo continue to release top quality titles, and re-release the older NES and Snes games on the upcoming eShop for the Virtual Console, I am confident that the 3DS will have the same success as the previous Nintendo DS handheld's.

Is Nintendo Restructuring Their Strategy for Wii U?

Nintendo Wii U is Nintendo's upcoming video game console which is also a successor of Nintendo Wii. This gaming console is set to launch next year probably around April. All this while, including during E3 Expo back in June this year, it seems that Nintendo's selling points for Wii U is its controller. Wii U promised High Definition visuals that is expected to exceed those of Sony's PS3 as well as Microsoft's Xbox 360. However, now that Sony has announced that their upcoming Playstation Vita (PS Vita) will also be able to be used as a controller for PS3, it seems that Nintendo Wii U has got its direct competitor even before launched. Since Sony has also been presenting the superiority of the visuals and graphics of PS Vita, it looks like Nintendo has to rethink their strategy. After all, it's a bad idea to only focus on a console's controller, like what Nintando has been doing so far for its upcoming Wii U. Now that the small, sleek, and powerful PS Vita can also be used as a controller for PS3, not to mention it can also play PS3 games on the go, what will Nintendo's next strategy be?

First, Nintendo pulled Wii U from the display of a video game trade show, the GamesCom 2011, that is supposed to take place in Cologne, Germany from August 17 to August 21, 2011. This is amongst the largest trade fair and event highlight for interactive games, and Nintendo decided to pull off. Sure there is something Nintendo is planning? Restructuring their plans for Wii U maybe? Maybe Nintendo realized that they need to do something for Wii U 'now', rather than later, before the console ends up like Nintendo's 3DS. Nintendo has recently cut the price of 3DS in order to get more sales. The 3DS's sales just weren't like how Nintendo had expected to see, and now they cut the price by 40% to avoid making more losses. Now, what will happen to Wii U? Will the same thing happen to this upcoming console?

Furthermore, it has been known now that Nintendo are targeting hardcore gamers with the upcoming Wii U, as opposed to casual gamers, which are Nintendo Wii's customer base. Is this a gamble move that will cost Nintendo not only their existing customers (of Wii, which is 'casual' gamers) but also losing their targeted customers, which is hardcore gamers too?

Into the Third Dimension - The Appeal of 3-D Entertainment

Remember a time when 3-D movies did not used to be popular?

For the past few decades, various forms of three-dimensional entertainment have only appealed to a selective niche market. They were mostly contained within amusement parks, targeted towards children and their parents during the typical family summer vacation. These 3-D movies never hit it off in mainstream culture, because wearing those clunky glasses to the cinema did not feel comfortable, convenient, or economically viable. Besides, the enjoyment derived from an additional dimension was not substantial enough for businesses or consumers to invest in this media.

In the age where many naysayers predicted the demise of television and movie entertainment, few people expected there would be a sudden upsurge in 3-D films during the recent years. Not only did they reach out to the younger demographic, but many adult moviegoers are also fascinated by the unique viewing experience. These consumers were even willing to shell out extra money in the cinema for the three-dimensional alternative. As evident by the unprecedented number of 3-D movie releases in the upcoming year, this form of entertainment has been surprisingly revived. The real question remains: how long will this modern phenomenon sustain?

Like many cultural norms in the recent era, the renewed popularity of 3-D films started with Avatar. James Cameron's massively successful cinematic juggernaut introduced us to a breathtaking visual experience. The movie was just gorgeous in every aspect and detail. This included watching the magnificent CGI visual effects come to life, as well as the effortlessly natural stereoscopic 3-D projected on the big screen. Viewers were so immersed into the movie that they nearly forgot they are watching one. Avatar in 3-D helped the moviegoer fully engage and experience an enriching visual universe beyond their imaginations.

Avatar triggered a curious response in the consumer market. Investors suddenly realized there was a high demand for 3-D movies, contrary to the popular belief in the past several decades. Moviegoers also discovered how much they enjoyed interacting with a three-dimensional film. Hence, many family-friendly franchises capitalized on this phenomenon. The marketing campaigns for Toy Story 3 revolved around the 3-D elements more than the fact that it was the final installment. Shrek Forever After, along with other children's movies, followed in similar footsteps. Likewise, the horror genre also found a receptive audience. The final edition of Saw was shot in 3-D, because is there any better way to enjoy splattered blood, disjointed body parts, and twisted psychological warfare?

Naturally, the mass appeal of three-dimensional entertainment soon branched out from the cinematic medium. There is a new line-up of 3D technology ranging from televisions to video games to computer software. Toshiba is expected to launch the first no-glasses 3D television by the end of the year. The 3DS will be available to the public in 2011. Even Roxio announced its plans to release video editor software that allows home users to create, edit, and share their three-dimensional media.

My personal theory is that the 3D popularity began with the Wii gaming console around 2006. The Wii may not have introduced a new gaming experience per se, but it certainly popularized the notion of interacting with an entertainment medium, because blending reality with the virtual world has always been an appealing prospect. Three dimensional films and televisions operate in similar fashions, since they allow the viewer to experience rather than just watch the entertainment. 3D transforms a spectator into an observer, so that we are now one step closer to the medium.

Unfortunately, smacking the 3D label at the end of a product feels like the stamp of approval nowadays. One must wonder if this recent technological trend is worth all the fuss that it creates. Given its original niche roots, marketing a novelty product to a mass market may be quite challenging. The 3D elements in Avatar were positively received because they felt fresh and new at the time, but will the appeal be lost if these features existed everywhere else? For now, it seems ambiguous whether the three-dimensional entertainment is here to stay as many have predicted. It could survive as long as the 3-D elements manage to blend in with the product, instead of having it define the product altogether. For example, the emphasis on a 3-D movie should focus on the story first rather than the additional visual component.

Nonetheless, it seems likely that 3D entertainment will exist in mainstream culture for a very long time. What is next in the future of three-dimensional products? 3-D books? 3-D online stores? 3-D pornography?

Sorry, but you know the last trend is definitely inevitable.

New Nintendo Wii Fitness Game Coming Soon

If you have children -- or simply don't live in a cave -- you've undoubtedly heard of the Nintendo Wii Video Game Console. Launched last year, the Wii has exploded on to the gaming scene, crushing it's Sony Playstation 3 opposition.

>
>

Normally, video games are associated with couch potatoes and blamed as one of the causes of our rising childhood obesity problem. But, the Wii changed things up with their innovative, action-packed technology.

Not only did they add a physical element to their system, but they made it extremely easy to learn and use, opening their market up to everyone from children to grandparents and everyone in between.

The thing that makes the Wii so different is the controller. Instead of simply pressing buttons and not needing to move anything other than your fingers, the new Nintendo controller allows you to move your entire body to affect what you see on the screen.

For example, in one of their most popular titles, Wii Sports, you need to swing your controller to hit a virtual tennis ball just as you would swing a real tennis racket on the courts. This allows users to get actual physical exercise right in their living room while playing a video game and having fun.

With such a fun and new way to get sedentary people up and moving, some gyms have even begun setting up full Wii rooms where members can play and burn up to 125 calories per game.

Nintendo is going to take this trend one step further with their upcoming game, Wii Fit. Wii Fit will incorporate a "Wii Balance Board" that will sense the player's full body motion, allowing for jumping, leaning, and endless other possibilities.

The game will be releasing in Japan in time for Christmas, but we'll have to wait until early 2008 in the US. That doesn't mean you can't get a Wii now though and enjoy the Wii Sports games and other titles.

Having a "Wii Night" at home is a great way to spend some fun family time, while helping to keep everyone healthy and fit at the same time.

Of course, with all these benefits, the Nintendo Wii is still in high demand and will only get harder to find as the holiday season progresses. So, keep your eyes peeled next time you're at Wal Mart or doing some Christmas shopping, and snag one up to get fit and fun!

Three Awesome Games That Every Gamer Is Waiting for in 2011

Every new calendar year there are one or two titles that every gamer is looking forward to in the upcoming video game season, however rarely does a release list look quite as impressive as the upcoming 2011 list of games. Three games stand out more than anything this year, and they all have one big thing in common: People have been waiting a long time for them.

1. Diablo 3 (Blizzard) -- For years, Diablo 2 was the powerhouse of the competitive online world, and even to this day you can find thousands of players online at any given time hacking away at demons, or running through bosses for the millionth time still hoping to find that ever-elusive Windforce. Now, after eleven long years, Diablo 3 is ready to take back the crown its series once held and take gamers back on the road of a hero, this time with a brand-new crafting and rune system to further add depth to what is expected to already be one of the most replayable games ever made.

2. Defense of the Ancients 2 (Valve) -- Defense of the Ancients, or DotA for short, is a bit of a phenomenon in the world of online multiplayer games. While most games are developed by big companies and distributed by major publishers, DotA began as a community mod for Blizzard's popular Warcraft III game. After years of community updates and a massive increase in attention by fans who loved the unique style of play, Valve managed to hire the latest developer of DotA and patent the name for future use. Yes, that's right, Valve took the mega-popular DotA game right out from under Blizzard's noses, and are now in development of DotA 2, which is scheduled to release early in 2011.

3. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Bethesda) -- The Elder Scrolls series hit mainstream affection in 2002 when it released its critically acclaimed third-installment in the series, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Unlike many of the games during its time, Morrowind introduced gamers to the concept of a massive, free-roaming world that put it in the player's hands to decide how they wanted to craft and enjoy their experience. A few years later, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was released, and while it initially garnered good reviews for its impressive graphics and reworked combat system, it has ultimately been considered by many to have been a disappointing continuation of the saga, especially coming after the masterpiece that was Morrowind.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the fifth installment in the series, and is set to introduce several new features and enemies, including dragons, dungeons and a controversial removal of the long-standing class-based system. Many gamers are looking for Skyrim's release in 2011 to be the true sequel worthy of building upon Morrowind's success, although only time will tell whether or not Bethesda's latest installment can bring the series back to its glory days.

I Have Seen The Future Of Video Gaming

I have seen the future of video gaming and it is 3D. This revelation came to me in an around about way since I am not an avid gamer, but I have been battling a four month addiction to Nazi Zombies. An addiction that is somewhat puzzling since I have played quite a few computer games before, going all the way back to Atari and Pac-Man. I have also played such games as Legend of Zelda, Crysis and Call of Duty, the popular game developed by Treyarch. Mostly role-playing games where you have to gun or sword your way to victory, but none of these games have so obsessed my time like NZ has done. Hitler's revenge I guess.

So when the latest COD Black Ops was offered up, truth be told, I bought it more for the Zombie side dish, rather than the main course. However, when I popped the disc into my PlayStation 3, the game came up in 3D on my new Samsung 46 Inch 240hz HD 3D TV. I was so surprised because nowhere on the game package was anything mentioned about it being in 3D. I have since re-checked the package and there's no mention of the game being in 3D - invisible marketing perhaps?

Once I started playing Call of Duty in crisp full HD 3D, that's when my revelation came to me. This is definitely the future of computer gaming, if it isn't already. Some of the sequences were so awe inspiring, the only word that comes to mind is "WOW". Even that doesn't give the 3D experience justice, doubt if any words could accurately explain what I was seeing and feeling. Jumping, rappelling, ricocheting, shooting... your way through some of those scenes was simply mind blowing and well... a revelation.

Without a doubt, 3D is the future of video gaming.

Actually, it was one of the sequences of running/fighting on the Kowloon Rooftop, which gave me an actual tactile experience so real, you forget that you're actually playing a computer game and not experiencing this in person. Maybe I am getting a little too carried away, or had too many of those holidays spirits while I was playing the game, but still I have never experienced a game like Black Ops before, never.

Nor have I experienced 3D like this before, not in the silly 3D horror movies of the 70's, not in the Terminator 2 show in Orlando, not in the 3D Piranha movie I saw last summer. Not by a long shot.

Now the 3D was not perfect on my system, unless you're looking directly at the TV, there was some small ghosting of the images which definitely tells you you're watching a 3D image. It also made me realize that while 3D has been around for ages and has improved greatly, especially in recent years. However, the technology, both in filming and reproducing of the images, still has a way to go before it becomes perfect. It is like watching the first color movies of the early 40's and 50's and comparing them to the color movies of today.

While watching the recent FIFA 2010 World cup Blu-ray, I could see where some of the 3D sequences such as the street scenes of the children playing soccer and the staged commentators... these came across as more controlled and better presented than the actual football games, although even those where well worth watching in 3D. In other words, 3D and 3D technology still has a long way to go before all the bugs are ironed out. If they can get rid of those awkward glasses, the system would really be perfected. However, I still believe 3D technology has a little ways to go before it will win the popularity and acceptance that HD or High Resolution has accomplished.

Still, in video gaming, 3D images adds so much to the gaming experience - there's no stopping it. The awkward glasses will slow down the upcoming revolution but it will not stop it. As more and more games and 3D content becomes available, full HD 3D will become the next viewing standard for TVs and gaming consoles.

Now, you will have to excuse me, I have just turned the power on and there are bloody monkeys crawling down the walls in full glorious 3D!

Leveling Up With a Warhammer Game Guide

It was not long ago that they announced the release of Warhammer Online, and instantly you could feel the excitement in the gaming community. Knowing that a game was about to be released that would rival World of Warcraft (finally) was something that "lit up the phone lines," so to speak, as gamers everywhere contacted one another about the upcoming release.

But it is not just the game itself that has people excited, but the potential to beat a game that took years to create. The thrill of beating a game that developers worked on for months and months gets any true gamer excited.

That is why a Warhammer game guide is expected to be a big hit with the upcoming release of the game.

Warhammer Game Guides?

What make a Warhammer game guide so important for a lot of gamers is that there is a certain level of excitement that comes with beating the game first. A status, if you will, that comes from being one of the first people to complete the game and be able to explore the worlds as much as they want.

Admittedly it is not for everyone. Many people like nothing but exploring, and don't even care how much they progress in the game. Arguably a Warhammer game guide is useful for them too, as they can get as lost as they want and still be able to get back.

But even if they swear they do not need it, there are other gamers that are there to win and they are there to win quickly. A Warhammer game guide, for them, is a chance for them to show up their friends and accomplish what many of the people they know will take much longer to accomplish.

If You Use A Guide, Does That Mean You Cannot Explore?

And as a response to those that claim they do not want to use a game guide because they want to explore the land - remember, most MMORPGs let you explore the land as much as you want once you have leveled up to the highest level, and although Warhammer Online has managed to keep whether they allow that or not a secret, you can imagine that even if it is not a capability now, there is no way that the gamer that is going to pay for monthly game play is going to allow that to not be a feature later. So exploring will not be a problem after you level up.

The Games You Remember Are Played in November

I first heard this phrase used in describing college football when I was a teenager. I'm not sure who originated this saying, but I have seen this play out year after year ever since then. We just completed the first weekend of games in November and have already witnessed BCS #1 ranked LSU defeating BCS #2 Alabama 9-6 in overtime on the road, BCS #3 Oklahoma State beating BCS #14 Kansas State 52-45 at home and BCS #7 Arkansas overwhelming BCS #9 South Carolina 44-28 at home.

This coming week features the game between current BCS #4 ranked Stanford hosting BCS #7 Oregon and on the weekend of the 25th BCS #1 ranked LSU will be hosting BCS #8 Arkansas. In addition to all those games with national implications riding on them, November is the month a majority of the in-state rivalries take place and most fans do not soon forget which teams won those games and hold all bragging rights heading into the following season.

Despite their importance and the memories created by the games played in November, one must remember that in order to make those games, games of significance, the teams involved have to win most, if not all of their games leading up to November. This is best achieved by staying in the moment each and every week, and focusing on your own improvement. If LSU was thinking about their upcoming game with Alabama in November when they opened the season against Oregon, chances are the outcome of that game would not have come out in their favor.

Far too often teams get ahead of themselves and are more focused on where they see themselves going, rather than where they are right now. This is how upsets and disappointments tend to occur. Teams that control what they can control, which is their own improvement and beating whoever they are facing each week, are the ones who are likely to be playing those meaningful games in November.

For example Florida State and Texas A & M were in nearly every preseason top 10, coming in at #6 and #8 in ESPN's preseason top 25. But as we entered November, neither one of them was even listed in the BCS top 25, in fact Florida State only received 12 votes in the poll that came out yesterday and Texas A & M did not receive any votes at all. Now imagine how big Texas A & M's game against BCS #6 Oklahoma would have been this past weekend had they taken care of business in all their earlier games.

Good teams avoid getting caught up in all the hype surrounding them, knowing that each game counts the same on their record. Teams that are not constantly improving themselves usually find that the only games they remember, that were played in November -other than the aforementioned in-state rivalry games- are sadly games played by teams other than themselves.

The Top Three PS3 Games Of 2011

2011 has seen the physical manifestation of the dominance of the PS3 over other consoles. This year sees it about to overtake the Xbox 360 in global sales since its launch in 2004.

Quite a reversal. Many people at the time of its launch disputed the wisdom of an expensive Blu-ray component, which has since been one of the main features that set it apart from other consoles.

The other feature that has secured its dominance is the rich video games library available to its users, and not surprisingly, with the upcoming holiday period, that archive is about to be replenished with some great blockbuster games.

2011 has seen some real innovative gaming hit our shelves.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I must admit I'm a sucker for fantasy and role-play games. I first got the taste with Myst, which I played on Mac around 20 years ago. Things have certainly come on a pace since then.

This is part V of the epic fantasy by Bathsheba Softworks (The Elder Scrolls series). Skyrim brings a totally new dimension to RPG. Amazing graphics transport you into an immense world where you get lost.

Picking up 200 years after the end of Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion, Skyrim is set in the midst of a civil war

You can roll play a character as your favourite species of choice, be it human or elf, and add to your strengths during the game. You can boost your skills in magic, alchemy or weapons. A humdinger of game for any RPG fantasy fan.

The Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection

One of the most irritating things about the PS3 for any Playstation aficionado is that it's not backward compatible with any earlier console games.

What a relief that these two games, ICO and Shadow of the Colossus feature in a PS3 combo pack. Widely considered examples of epic storytelling these two games are enhanced by HD, full 3D support and 7.1 surround sound.

Many a teary-eyed PS2 user will be waking up to this in their Christmas stocking come December 25th.

Battlefield 3

The hugely anticipated FPS release from DICE does not disappoint. In direct competition with Modern Warfare it literally blows it away.

Choose between Tehran, New York and Paris as the backdrop to your combat zone, throw in some game changing technology powered by DICE's Frostbite 2 engine and great co-op and multiplayer functions and you have the ultimate wartime first person shooter.

If you think that purchasing these games may make for an expensive Christmas, my advice is to audition them for free first with a good game rental service like Lovefilm.

As a love film ps3 subscriber you can take advantage of a love film free trial and enjoy some great Christmas movies too as part of one of the many very reasonable love film ps3 gaming packages available. A real money saver much needed this time of year.

Is Halo-Reach the Best Game in the Series?

Halo: Reach is the upcoming (and final chapter) from current developer studios Bungie, ending their reign over the Xbox 360's Halo franchise. Set in 2552 on the human planet Reach, you once again adopt the Spartan armour as Noble 6 and, along with Noble Squad, the player will have to defend their planet from the onslaught that is the Covenant. However Halo: Reach will be a prequel to Bungie's orignal award winning "Halo: Combat Evolved" game.

Originally designed to be an updated version of the Xbox 360's Halo franchise entry Halo 3, which was a masssive hit despite the isssues that some gamers had with it, the idea was scrapped, Bungie stating they would rebuild and improve the quality of the Halo 3 designs.

Referring back to the Halo: Combat Evolved concept designs, this effectively means that the new weapon, armour and enemy designs in Halo: Reach will differ greatly from earlier entries but retain the spirit of the franchise.

Hinting that Bungie will not leave the Xbox 360 Halo franchise without a bang, the company are looking to dramatically increase the visual performance of all gaming aspects, right down to the weaponry. This clearly required Bungie to create an all new engine for Halo: Reach, with the AI being improved and tweaked to provide better support for the player as they encounter the Covenant.

So after all this talk of combining vastly improved graphics and improved AI and designs, will Bungie leave Xbox 360's Halo franchise on a high and maintain their reputation for creating the finest FPS for the Xbox 360 console? The only way to be sure is to pick up a copy when it comes out later this year!

Indie Game Review of Trine

I'll get started by recounting exactly how I found Trine. Surfing the net, a little bird told me something known as Humble Frozenbyte Bundle. Frozenbyte, a good indie video game firm hailing from Finland, teamed up together with the Humble Bundle. How the Humble Bundle works is straightforward and saintly: you only pay whatever you want, you receive a few video games, and it all flows to charity. You can virtually pay out one penny, and you can get hold of all of these game titles (but come on, 1 penny?). I figured what the heck, contributed some money, and downloaded Trine.

I truthfully didn't anticipate a lot when starting up Trine for the first time. That's the fantastic thing about indie games to me, that my mind is really a clean slate entering them. There's not any buzz or sensationalism swaying my viewpoint on a game before I even place my very own fingers on it. An viewpoint is made solely around the game play on its own, and not really based on if it surpassed my expectations or disappointed. Frankly, I had no clue exactly what I was stepping into. Heck, I didn't even know exactly what genre Trine fell into.

Starting off the action up and going into the initial stage, I became impressed with what I observed. First off, the adventure turned out to be a side-scrolling platformer (very much to my pleasure). The background quickly grabbed my attention, and I also understood that this platformer was going to have a good deal to consider. The environments are really quite easy on the eyes, and they also give off a really unique, magical ambiance. These, bundled along with the narration, genuinely make it appear like you're playing through the fairytale.

Ruining as very little as I'm able to, the plot goes a little like the following. First beginning the video game, you take management of a thief while she moves inside a sanctuary, wanting to get her hands on various treasure. She finds an interesting object, the Trine. You next take control of a sorcerer, and in addition establish your way to the Trine. Additionally, you adopt control over a knight whom (you guessed it) gets to the Trine and even touches it. The spirits connected with the 3 are joined together, so they consequently turn into one. From then on, you look for a way to turn back combining and also the three heroes get thrown within some thing a lot larger than themselves.

These beginning instances from the video game, while acting as a tutorial for the three characters, sets up the central mechanic of the game. That is, at just about any time you can easily switch among one of the 3 characters. This opens up a plethora of methods that you can solve the variety of hurdles Trine throws your way. The wizard, my favorite of the 3, can easily generate boards, containers, and platforms, and may furthermore relocate materials with magic. He definitely doesn't possess very much fighting abilities, other than dropping boxes onto naive adversaries heads. The knight, on the other hand, is very good at killing things and remaining living. Having a good shield, he can defend from arrows or falling debris effectively. My issue with the knight is definitely that even though he truly does have his uses, his abilities just aren't as awesome as the other two different characters. He came off as your main simple hero, without a whole lot flair. You end up making use of the knight quite a lot at the starting of the game, seeing that his shield comes in handy frequently and he's excellent at killing skeletons. A problem came into being when ever I got nearer to the finish, on the other hand. I actually observed that it had gotten to the position where the thief could eliminate things a lot easier compared to the knight. You could just volley arrows at the enemies from very far without being worried about getting damaged. Because of this, the knight's function is minimized and I didn't use him as much as I used to. It wasn't that utilizing him was in fact any less exciting, simply that he had become less beneficial as the video game elevated. The thief was in fact a powerhouse, capable to snipe NPCs by using the bow, and in a position to get through the particular stages with ease many thanks to her grappling hook. I can't count the range of situations in which grappling hook conserved my life, or how many treasures it let me get to. Every main character has his or her function, and you can't stay to 1 simply due to the fact you enjoy them far more. The thing is, each hero is without a doubt in fact genuinely fun to implement. Unique scenarios called for various heroes, and it is a delightful thing.

Very likely my favorite element of this video game is that there are several ways you can go about solving the particular complications Trine has to offer you. It definitely makes you to get inventive at moments. The sorcerer performs exceptionally well in a lot of these situations, as you can certainly create boxes and platforms and work them straight into whatever spots you need. What can make each scenario in Trine much more fascinating is the use of physics. Moving items and swinging about with the thief gives off a good sense of weight, and objects react reasonably realistically according to the particular forces applied upon them. These qualities definitely help to make it pleasurable to simply play about with the environment.

Every single character has different abilities, and the thief along with knight each obtain unique weaponry to work with. As you gain experience, in the shape of green bottles scattered all over the stages, ones heroes level up and also gain proficiency points. All these skill points tend to be used to help update the particular skills of your heroes. For example, 1 of the particular wizard's skills (as I stated before) was the ability to develop a container out of thin air. This is carried out by holding down the mouse key, and drawing a container wherever you would like it made. From the starting, the sorcerer will be able to exclusively generate 1 container at an instance. Whenever you level upward this specific skill, he can easily have much more boxes in presence at one time. The idea is a nice touch to the game, and offers an Role-playing game sense to Trine. Likewise, you may locate treasure chests throughout each and every stage that hold magical items. You can certainly equip the characters along with these items, which in turn can carry out nearly anything from helping them oxygen under water to giving all of them a lot more overall health. I made it a point when playing to find each and every treasure chest in the game, and several are usually fairly hard to detect.

The cons with regard to Trine are few and far between. The knight hero lost some practical use while you get nearer to the end of the game, as the thief results in being simply as superior if not better at eradicating opponents. His particular skills were also deficient in the cool factor. The storyline by itself wasn't exceedingly special, and the conclusion (although I wasn't anticipating much out of it) had been pretty anticlimactic. In the vicinity of the conclusion of the video game, the thief gets to be virtually overpowered, and I wouldn't be surprised if you could beat a total level using her all alone. Honestly at this point I'm striving hard to find things wrong with this video game.

On the flipside, I couldn't cease playing the video game. I most likely beat it in two or maybe three sittings, and that was merely because duties kept me personally from sitting down and beating it in a day. The physics and equipment you have at hand to pass obstructions is pleasing as heck (here's lookin' at you sorcerer). The addition of gadgets and ranking up provides this platformer a nice feel of Role-playing game, without affecting the true platformer experience. In fact, it makes you want to seek every nook and cranny hunting for the chests and experience. And that's not a bad thing. I was going to sit here and tell you that there was little replayability for Trine, but here I am starting it up again to beat it for the second time.

Bottom line, if you want to waste a whole day on an indie game and have fun doing it pick up Trine. You'll be pleasantly surprised by what it brings to the table.

GamerAdvice's rating: 8/10

- Be sure to keep an eye out at the humblebundle for the next Humble Bundle project.

Oh, and look for the upcoming Trine 2 set for a late 2011 release.

Job Interview Preparation Similar to Game Preparation

Effective preparation for a job interview starts with a lot of the same things that go into getting ready for a game, match or race. Much as an athlete studies the game film and tendencies of the opposition, wise job seekers study up on all the information available on the company that will be interviewing them.

Just as it is important for an athlete to know his or her opposition's tendencies, a good interviewee must anticipate what the company is looking for, and be prepared to show how they will fill that need. Obviously, the more you know about the company's practices and tendencies, the better able you will be to show them how hiring you will benefit them.

Obviously, a good place to start is the company's website. Make sure and read everything including press releases and all the mundane and seemingly unimportant information there. By reading all of it, you will likely begin to get a feel for the company's values and an understanding of how it operates. You never know where you will find that nugget of info that gives you the edge over the competition. Read over the website several times, for the same reason athletes and coaches review their game films repeatedly, because they don't want to miss anything and neither do you.

Another way teams and athletes gain an advantage is by studying how other teams or players were successful against their upcoming opponent. You can do this by reading articles about the company's competitors various strategies. Perhaps you will even stumble across a piece of information there that the company has overlooked, and use that to your benefit in the interview. Any advantage you can exploit is crucial in the competitive environment we live in today.

Finally, but only after you have done all your research on the company, you can begin to prepare yourself mentally for the interview. With all the knowledge you have at your disposal, begin to visualize the actual interviews you will be going through with the company. Have fun with it and try and cover every angle. Imagine the interview being conducted by a variety of different people: old, young, male, female, tall, short, fat, skinny, etc. The more situations you put yourself through in your imagination, the less likely you will be nervous or thrown by whatever ends up happening in the actual interview.

Most of my clients have had remarkable success using visual rehearsals, and the more you use them the more effective (and fun) they become for you. I have staked my professional life on the notion that preparation is the key to success. Anxiety and nervousness are what you feel when you are not properly prepared. If you focus on the fundamentals of your preparation you will more than likely end up getting the results you are hoping for a lot sooner. My most successful clients focus on the process and their preparation, not winning or losing.

So focus on getting ready for the interview, not getting the job, and you will likely experience similar success in your endeavors.

Improve Your Indoor Volleyball Game by Going Outside - Play Beach Volleyball

"People think we have coasted the last four years. We fought, we had a lot of battles. ... We've always had to battle." --Kerri Walsh, Olympic Gold Medalist

If you want to improve your indoor volleyball game, play beach volleyball. It makes you dig, set or hit during every volley. And, with just two players, you get a tremendous number of repetitions which will make you a much better player.

The reason why you will improve, greatly, is that you will have to do two of the key elements of volleyball - dig, set or spike - every time the volleyball is on your side of the court. This means if you are a setter, you will become a better spiker and digger, and if you are a middle blocker you will become better at setting and passing the volleyball.

It has been said, that for every 1,000 repetitions of a volleyball skill, you get 3% better.

Here is a list of volleyball tips for your beach volleyball (or 2 man grass volleyball) practice:

* Only put the ball over on two if: (a) there is no other choice, (b) your partner cannot get up in time to hit and tells you to put the ball over, (c) there is a big opening, or (d) the first pass is right on the net and you can hit.

* Don't sway while waiting for the serve.

* The hitter gets the sand off the ball during warm-up spikes.

* Play deep and think short.

* Verbally communicate all the time (i.e. "I've got middle," "nice set," "one more point and switch").

* Get low on defense.

* Don't miss two serves in a row.

* Scout other teams and serve to the one who can't hit or can't pass.

* Check the wind. If you have a choice, take the wind in your face rather than the serve.

* Land on two feet after a spike.

* Be sure all the players are ready before a serve.

* You get two one-minute time outs. Use them when you're five points behind or the other team is catching up.

* Check the court for rocks, glass, and shells before the game.

* Error long instead of short on serves.

* Use a variety of serves (i.e. sky ball, hard overhand, float, jump).

* Keep your passes and sets lower in windy conditions.

* Good luck in the upcoming beach season!!!

If you play beach volleyball or on the grass two-man volleyball, you will become a better player!

And remember, hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.

Rod Townsend has plays volleyball. If you play, you will know why. YouTube video is available at the site online volleyball, and volleyball videos So, whether you dig, set or spike, come and visit for awhile.

Kinect Exercise Games

The best kinect exercise game so far is"Kinect Sports", this game has many different sports games for you to play. Sports like soccer, beach volleyball, bowling, table tennis, track and field, and boxing. But not only kinect sports can give you a workout and there are several other kinect games that get your heart pumping.

"Your Shape and Fitness Evolved" is another kinect exercise game that will improve your fitness level. You get a personal trainer and find out which fitness level you are at, the game asks a few questions and you get put at a certain level, then you get to choose which class you would like to take for the day. Classes like Yoga, Martial Arts, or Tai Chi. You can play with one player or with up to 4 players, this game will challenge everyone and it really is so much fun.

This game is a great workout and it tells you when you are doing something wrong and gives you good tips and words of encouragement. There are different programs for different goals such as toning, weight loss, after baby workouts, they have really thought of everything and I highly recommend this game if you are looking for a top kinect exercise game.

"Zumba Fitness" has had mixed reviews, there are 30 fitness routines to choose from with nine different dance styles: Reggaeton, Merengue, Salsa, Cumbia, Hip-Hop, Mambo, Rumba, Flamenco and Calypso. This game is fitness with fun, but the kinect controller seems to have trouble tracking some of the moves, it's about finding the correct position so the kinect controller can track your movements.

"EA Active Sports" is another kinect exercise game but you get to build muscle with exercises like squats, lunges and bicep curls, and also included in your routine is a large range of fun fitness activities from mountain biking and dodge ball to boxing. Step aerobics and boxing is a lot of fun. Intensity is not a problem with this game. I completed medium intensity workouts and my heart rate stayed at about 70-80% of my maximum. There is lots of statistics, if you like that sort of thing.

But the number one kinect exercise game is "Kinect Sports", it's so much fun for everyone. The game is meant to be a family or friends game because as you play in single player mode from boxing to table tennis it almost feels like you are running in circles, while it's fun to see who gets the higher score when you compete against a family member or friend when you compete against the A.I. of the game it just feels like you're seeing if you can get past this point of the level of difficulty. This really is a must in your kinect library.

Coming up in March is "Get Fit with Mel B" and this is another kinect exercise game, but with a little different theme. Ex Spice girl Mel B has over 200 exercise and 140 recipes. This program promises to have a wide variety of exercises to develop strength, tone, flexibility and aerobic fitness and is complemented by full nutritional advice, which includes recipes and shopping lists based on your unique goals. An all in one kinect exercise package.

So these are the best kinect exercise games and upcoming exercise games, if you would like to see the videos and full reviews please go to Kinect Exercise Games and see the other exercise games available.

Make sure you get the latest kinect information on the new Kinect Exercise Games for 2011. We have so many good games coming up, games like Michael Jackson- The Experience, Michael Phelps - Push Limits and a couple of tennis games coming out.

League Analysis Through the NHL Game Highlights

Unlike a financial analyst who must dissect hundreds of lines of financial data as well as hundreds of notes to financial statements, the typical amateur NHL analyst need only keep up on several surface areas. The easiest way to stay up to date on your own game is to read the NHL game highlights.

The most obvious reason why you can get away with reading the NHL game highlights instead of each and every line of text is that the highlights capture the most important factors that affect that particular game or series. Just as a news article will reveal the most important details up front (starting with the title, then the first paragraph, then the second and so on) NHL game highlights will provide all relevant information in one area.

Things to look for when browsing the highlights are key player injuries, new player statistics, team stats, game outcomes, and so on. For example, injuries will give an indication as to what one might expect in upcoming games from that team, especially if a key player is injured and may be sitting out for some time (think of Paul Kariya of the St. Louis Blues).

Another detail the the highlights will reveal is player statistics. Often, you can find out whether a player has reached a personal best, and this could be an indication that this player is on a roll. Again, players who are hot are more likely to perform, particularly against higher-ranking teams.

A final detail to look for when perusing the NHL game highlights is player injuries. Even an injury is not sufficient enough to warrant that player getting placed on the team's Injured Reserve, the NHL game highlights will usually describe the extent of the injury sustained. This can suggest whether the player will under-perform in an upcoming game.

If you are looking to place bets on a game's outcome, whether through an office pool or an official gaming service, think of the NHL game highlights as a financial report of a company or, more specifically, an entire industry.

New iPod Games

I can't say for sure when I know I was bitten but I have the date on my receipts (11/15/06). I guess I was late to the iPod party but I've not missed a step since I got involved with "Buck," my iPod.

I've got 3 now, one just for movies, and another for music and one for data and I'm negotiating with a contact in China for 5 more.

iPod is the brain child of Steven Jobs, Apple guru and all around genius. More than 22 million ipods have been sold to US adults, which amounts to approximately 11% of the population (according to the non-profit Pew Internet & American Life Project). I became a fan and user and my addiction continues to grow stronger.

Now I spend my days learning about new applications and my nights surfing for clearance sales, closeouts, underground sources for discounts on accessories. For example, last week I found a site that sells what they call an iPod Converter.

This unit allows for unlimited downloads of movies and music and games and software and provides a lifetime membership in their download club. As a full blown movie nut this little handful of technology is gobbling up my free time by the hour.

Talk about addiction, I was rummaging through some magazines in the basement of the library at midnight (don't ask) and found this underground techie magazine. There was a story about an MP3 converter that took me a few minutes to realize was the iPod converter I heard about last week.

The techie manual indicated this is better than Blockbuster and NetFlicks all rolled into one very user friendly palm-sized unit. I'll share the link here anyone who is interested can read all about it.

As I continue to learn about all-things-iPod I've just discovered about iPod hacks. This reference startled me at first as it is not in my nature to destroy other's enjoyment in any manner, especially when it comes to something like PCs and iPods.

What I learned is the term hacks when it refers to iPod is another way of saying accessories, except that the modification most likely will void your iPod's warrantee. In any case the lists I found were nothing less than fascinating.

For instance, according to howstuffworks.com, the range of accessories includes downloadable iPod games and programs that convert DVDs to iPod-friendly video files. There are also programs that convert PDA files your PowerPoint presentations into files that work with your iPod-compatible.

The howstuffworks website also provided a reference to a list of some current applications:

"iPod hackers are publishing all sorts of programs that alter the way an iPod works -- some of the software is free, and some of it is for purchase. Some currently available hacks let you:

o Make an iPod work with Linux machines and run Linux applications

o Remove volume caps (iPods sold in Europe cap the volume at 100 decibels; uncapped iPods can reach more than 115 decibels.)

o Turn your iPod into a universal remote

o Attach an external hard drive to your iPod to increase the storage capacity

o Change your iPod's font and graphics

o Watch movies on your iPod in full-screen mode

o Plug your iPod into any computer (even without iTunes) and listen to music from the hard drive

o Transfer photos to iPod without using iTunes

o Replace iTunes all together as the iPod's main jukebox

o Use an iPod with a Windows 98 machine "

While I am fascinated with the expansion this provides I am too cautious and protective of Buck to try anything other than factory sealed products from Apple. I can be patient until they ramp up to the accessory list I peeked at in an underground publication.

The upcoming Apple list is robust and will blow away the hacker's meager offerings. Meanwhile, I'll stick to my movie and music downloading which keeps me rather busy and satisfied.

However if you hear any buzz about an auto-pilot for long cross-country drives that's compatible with a 2006 STS, please pass it on. I might just let Buck give it a try.

Nintendo 3DS Games

Nintendo 3DS is a brand new way of gaming for this generation of gamers. You do not have to wear glasses to experience the special effects in this gaming device. It is surely a revolutionary machine, which will alter the way we play games. Nintendo 3DS has a very cool backwards compatibility feature and more horsepower. The processing power of the 3D component in the upcoming Nintendo 3DS handheld device can be used efficiently for making better-looking games. Nintendo 3DS handheld device is slick and stylish. The players will have a third dimension to this game but they can also enjoy the standard 2D format.:The physical turntable peripheral in this game is brought to a handheld portable device and you do not have to pay anything extra for the special attachments. It does not have GBA cart slot and even if it does there is no way to attach it to the latest handheld device from Nintendo. Note tracking becomes easier with the 3D effect and you can focus on the closer planes. The background fades and blurs effectively into nothing. Controls are handled with stylus and like the console version the notes flow down the track. The color-coded arrows will tell you whether to flick right or left. When you find long stretches of some colors you have to scrub your stylus and when you find circles you should tap. It is very satisfying and simple game.Steel Diver:The Steel Diver submarine warfare game was long expected in Nintendo DS, but launched in Nintendo 3DS. It has been reworked for the 3DS version. Shigeru Miyamoto says that this title is almost done and the 3DS version is expected soon.Kingdom Hearts:The kingdom hearts video demo starts with Sora sitting on a branch by the edge of ocean water. It continues with various familiar locations, which is inter-spliced with the shots of some characters from the game. The trailer shows the 3D port of Kingdom Hearts rather than a new 3DS title. The graphics in 3DS is very nice but the 3D effect looks very weak.Paper Mario:It has new features like chain chomp companion and peel-off badges for Mario. Otherwise, it looks like GameCube and N64 games. The 3D effects in this game are completely binary and it does not matter whether the 3D slider is on or off, there is no variance in the 3D effects.Mario Kart:This Mario Kart game comes with 3D graphics. It is not as good as the Wii version and visually it is underwhelming. The 3D effects will pop up when the players overlap but still it is an exciting game.Tangled:Nintendo's 3DS top screen shows the trailer of Rapunzel animated movie from Disney. It looks exactly like the theatrical version of the animated movie trailer, but it a lot smaller. There is nothing Earth-shattering in this game. If this device is capable of playing full 3D movies, it will be much more interesting.upcoming gamesMatt Anton is an avid player and journalist of video games. Most Popular Upcoming PS3 Games You Should Not Miss

Sony PlayStation 3 is designed to fulfill all of your gaming pleasures especially with the right games. Here are the most popular upcoming games to watch out for!

NCAA 09 Basketball

Do you want some hard court action at home? If so then order for your own copy of NCAA 09 Basketball!

Formerly named as NCAA Mega March Madness, the latest installment to the series comes with a new game engine - the same one used in NBA Live - as well as an all-new dynasty mode where you can enjoy roster sharing and playing against online rival teams in an instant. Its coach feedback system gives you critical coaching instructions and add the presence of Division I coaches in the sidelines.

Wolfenstein

A first-person shooter game with single player and multiplayer modes, Wolfenstein is expected to have a 2009 release. News about the game came as far back as 2004 with a TechNews report.

Wolfenstein is set at the peak of WWII with the whole world suffering amidst the chaos and devastation caused by the Nazis. Although the Allied Forces are experiencing a slow and steady progress against the Third Reich, Nazi forces are still substantial. To save the world from far greater horrors, it's up to OSS agent BJ Blazkowicz to eliminate the secret weapon of the Nazis: an occult force known only as the Black Sun.

Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon

The Path of the Furon is the third installment in the popular Destroy All Humans series. Set with a December 2008 release, the game has also been produced for Xbox 360.

The game takes place in the 1970's, right after Destroy All Humans: Big Willy Unleashed.

You still take the role of Crpyto, an alien assigned to gather DNA samples, and face a new opponent. In the third installment, Crypto is now a casino owner and collects DNA samples from brainstems of his patrons. Trouble ensues, however, when his casino is attacked by Nexos, a strange cyborg race that represents a huge threat to his "normal" lifestyle.

Eternal Sonata

For true blue romantics, their excitement is probably focused on the anticipated release of Eternal Sonata in October 2008.

The protagonist of the game is a romantic himself, Frederic Chopin, a legendary pianist and composer in real life. Eternal Sonata is based on a fictional world that the romantic musician dreamt of in the remaining hours of his life (he had died at the young age of 39). Battles and attacks are based on the elements of Chopin's music.

PSP Collections

There are a great many places to look for all the new games and music, previews of upcoming releases and video reviews.

The sheer outstanding quality of the games leads people more and more back to the producing site itself instead of to a site reviewing or dedicating to that game. The graphic reviews, forums and video documentation mixed with excellent website artwork, draws gamers with confidence.

PSP gamers can be confident that there are a few reliable organizations such as the obvious official PlayStation site, the most recent PSP System software is available for download. Gamespot, Pocket Gamer and MyPSP.com.au are by far the very best and outstanding reviewers and previews. The artwork, video compilation and reviews are well above standard to compete with maker sites like Atari and Wizards of the Coast.

When you have checked out all the games, music and utilities you can handle take your list to your favourite vendor or on-line service and walah! you will be a much more informed buyer.

From the reports and promotions seen lately there is no doubt that the PSP is building on it's web browser capability and looking to create an experience comparable to pocket PCs. In my opinion I believe the two products that have the most value are the PSP and the iPod or iPad and between them they cover their areas well and split profile preferences ergonomically. The PSP with it's video and gaming inputs and the iPs have the phone, wireless and access abilities.

Sony Teases New Mobile Gaming Console

Hot on the heels of Nintendo's illustrious unveiling of their new 3DS console, Sony has decided to take the lid off of ONE of their upcoming mobile platforms. It's been whispered about behind Sony corporate booths at tradeshows, and murmurs of it can be heard bouncing through the aisles of your local mall from the lips of the nerd soothsayers that roll around in the Sony Style Store chanting 'PlayStation Phone' in tongues.

Well, this IS the PlayStation phone, at least the closest we're going to get to one for a while, and it's Sony Ericsson's new XPERIA R800i. It's a more or less typical looking handset upon first glance. It's got a volume toggle on the side, charging and headphone ports, logos where you'd expect them, and a 854x480 pixel multitouch display. But, slide the screen up and you're looking at essentially a flattened dual shock controller, sans one set of shoulder buttons. The iconic 4-button pad is still there, as is the d-pad, and the dual control sticks have been replaced with two round touch pads.

According to initial tests, it seems to have enough power under the hood to handle 3D rendering with as much grace as any other competitor and more so, particularly because of its ample 512 megabytes of system memory. It's an Android handset, a fact that's clear enough once you notice the four Android hotkeys at the bottom of the screen. It's running a modified version of the Android platform for now, changed to feature some healthy sprinklings of PlayStation flavors. It will be able to run any game you can imagine from the Android App store, and there are sure to be plenty of third party games developed for a mobile device with 'PlayStation' in its name. What's more, the open Android platform makes finding decent emulators a snap, so you can play Super Mario World on the virtual Super Nintendo running on your Sony PlayStation Phone and stand there boggled by the staggering marvels you're experiencing.

Mental Golf Game Tips to Improve Your Performance

This brief article reveals three mental golf game tips utilizing a cutting-edge technique known as "tapping".

What is Tapping?

"Tapping" is a do-it-yourself form of acupuncture, except you don't use needles. Instead you simply "tap" on a few "clearing points" while focusing on and saying (to yourself, if appropriate) the negative feeling or emotion.

For the sake of simplicity, the following tips will only use a single point, referred to as the "collar bone point". However, it is not the exact collar bone, but rather the two bony notches at the base of your neck. It is about the spot where you would knot a necktie. Just "tap" this point with an open hand approximately 10 times as instructed in the tips below. It's that simple...

Tip # 1 - "Tapping" in your Pre-shot Routine

Tap while focusing on any negative feeling or emotion you might have about the upcoming shot. If you don't have anything in particular, just use the term "tension".

Take a deep breath and say to yourself "Let it be easy".

Step up and swing the club.

Tip # 2 - "Tapping" in your Post-shot Routine

What...you don't have a post-shot routine? That's the subject for another article. For now we'll keep it simple and divide your shot results into either positive or negative.

1. If the shot ended up where you intended (Positive) -

Simply tap and say "Exactly", "Spot on", "Nice", or any other positive phrase indicating to yourself that you manifested the intended result.

2. If the shot did NOT play out as planned (Negative) -

Tap and say "Anger", "Frustration", or whatever emotion the less-than-perfect shot brings up.

Take a deep breath.

Say to yourself "This is more what I had in mind"....

And then take another easy practice stroke and visualize the ball going exactly where you intended.

This is very important because it will plant in your subconscious mind this more positive result.

Tip # 3 - "Tapping" for Anger Management

Is there any activity on earth that people love to hate more than golf?

Any time that you feel anger on the course, just tap and say "anger", "pissed off" or whatever best describes your feelings (and is somewhat appropriate given your environment).

Take a deep breath.

Don't be fooled into believing that something so simple can't be effective. Try it out for yourself and then make your own decision.

Highlights From the 2011 Consumer Electronic Show

As usual, the 2011 Consumer Electronic Show (CES) was not short on surprises. Gadget gurus from all over the world showed up to get a sneak peak at what the leading corporations in the world of technology will be debuting in the upcoming year. Among the numerous and varied products and concepts showcased at the event from over 2700 international companies, three stood out as particularly groundbreaking:

• RIM's Playbook

Move over Apple, a new tablet's in town. Or at least that's the buzz amongst analysts who are watching the Playbook, a tablet produced by RIM, a manufacturer famous for its Blackberry. Although most agree that Apple will probably still have the leading spot for this market, at the very least, it's going to have to give up some of its revenue to competitors hoping to one-up the groundbreaking iPad, and there were no shortage of them at this year's CES. One of the features that makes the Playbook stand out, though, is that it is perfectly compatible with the Blackberry, and in a world where compatibility is key, this is going to be a big selling point for Blackberry users. It will also support Flash applications, something that the iPad is incapable of. Apple will not take the Playbook's offensive strike lying down however; it plans to maintain its momentum by unveiling an iPad 2 (and possibly 3) sometime this year.

• 3D Innovation

The big 3, Panasonic, LG, and Samsung are all hoping to emerge as the leader in the newest 3D technology by promising eye-popping visuals without the silly glasses. Nintendo has a similar game plan with their launch of the 3DS which could not only offer gamers a more realistic playing experience, but rumor has it that a potential agreement with the film industry might enable 3DS users to view new releases in 3D right from their handheld.

• Corning's Gorilla Glass

Corning, a rookie at the Consumer Electronic Show, broadened its scope by stepping in to the world of techno-gadgets such as Smartphones and iPads. It's new "gorilla glass" used as display screens on these devices shattered expectations with its unmatchable durability. The demo booth at the show featured samples of Gorilla Glass, and spectators were encouraged to try their best to scratch or smudge the glass in an effort to prove its durability. Perhaps the biggest surprise from Corning was its announcement that it plans to maneuver itself into the automobile industry by shaping its glass into windshields and windows for new car models. Despite its name, gorilla glass is actually very lightweight, making it a viable competitor for car companies hoping to produce smaller, more environmentally friendly vehicles.

Up and Coming

The 2011 CES definitely brought the wow factor, and one can only imagine what may be up the sleeves of techno-giants in the next five years. With the new emphasis on 3D, perhaps we will see moves to make the film-viewing experience even more realistic - with smells perhaps? Believe it or not, IBM already has a concept in the works, though it's a long way from production. The idea's a little creepy to me, especially when I try to imagine just what smells might be emanating from my TV set during a viewing of say, Shrek or Dawn of the Dead? Not to mention that this could be a slippery sensory slope-what's next, taste, touch? Why not a device that transports us right into the action of the movie-talk about choose your own adventure! It sounds crazy, but after the buzz resulting from this year's CES, it might just become a reality after all.

The Old Course iPhone Game Review

The Old Course based on St. Andrews Links in Scotland where the golf championship thing is being currently held (I really don't follow any sports but golf I know literally nothing about). I do however know that St Andrews golf course is very very old and has a lot of history embedded within golf.

The only other golf game I had played on the iPhone before The Old Course is Lets Golf by Gameloft which is good. The Old Course however is a completely different take on Lets Golf if your familiar with that. Instead of being able to see the golf course and the player in third person, you see just the ball and a birds eye view of the course. You have a nice range of clubs to choose from to use on different terrains ect. The game is also nice and helpful by showing you which direction the hole is in with an arrow.

The controls are very simple, your finger basically acts as the golf club. You swipe your finger across the screen and hit the ball. How fast it travels and which direction it goes in is up to where you positioned your finger and how fast you swiped. This doesn't sound like you would be able to get the most accurate of shots but it works great in practise. Once the ball is in the air you can tilt your iPhone and iPod Touch to create a spin on the ball.

The graphics are quite simple and basic but buildings are 3D and adjust their view along with the camera which is a nice touch. You see everything you need to and I have yet to see the camera go wrong which is impressive. You are basically on one giant golf course because St Andrews is all one which is represented within the game, so it all looks pretty much the same with the bright two tone grass and bright yellowy sand, its all rather cartoony.

The sound track is like it was ripped straight out of Wii Sports which I like but it goes on and on during you play which get really annoying but you can turn it of. The atmosphere isn't amazing you hear the same bird tweet once in a while and the same bounces from the ball as it hits the ground but apart from that its all you hear.

Having said all this The Old Course is really genuinely fun. I had a lot more enjoyment with this than I ever did with Lets Golf. Getting the ball into that dam hole feels a lot more achievable here and that you are in a lot more control which you are.

Overall I would recommend The Old Course to those who are like me and don't know to much about golf and just want to have a bit of fun easily and simply, If you want something with a little more umpth, try Tiger Woods or the upcoming Lets Golf 2.

Most Anticipated 2011 Releases For the Wii

Even with the Xbox, and Sony hot on the heels of Nintendo and inspite of the gains the competition is making, the Nintendo Wii remains the top selling gaming console system. Combined with the Nintendo DS, DSi, DSi XL and the upcoming 3DS system - Nintendo has maintained a lead in the console wars. 2010 will be an incredible season for new releases - but 2011 will bring even more hot titles!

If you are a fan of the LEGO series of games for the Nintendo Wii, then 2011 will bring more surprises for you with the release of LEGO Star Wars III - The Clone Wars. The LEGO games have been a huge hit for the Wii and Travellers Tales - the company that has designed them. The latest games to be released has drawn upon the success of Harry Potter and is entitled Lego Harry Potter - Years 1-4.

If they can pull off what they've managed for every LEGO game to date, LEGO Star Wars III - The Clone Wars will bring yet another hit and will entertain gamers.

The other smash hit just waiting for gamers is The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. The Zelda series of games goes back to the early days of the Nintendo. Zelda has a loyal following of gamers that have stayed with the game over the years, and years it has been 23-years to be exact.

Link - the main character in The Legend of Zelda has been around for 23 years in various incarnations. First released in the 80's the game has evolved for new players. Richer characters, deeper game play and story lines have made the Zelda series of games a treasure for old and new players.

What will The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword introduce? How about full-motion control using the Wii MotionPlus accessory which will synchronize the players movements with the characters actions providing more intuitive play control. Imagine, swing to the right and your character swings to the right - swing left and the character moves in unison to you.

Precision play isn't limited to the "good guys" in the game, but applies equally to the villians as well. Players will have to think about their strategy when battling opponents who will now be able to defend against attacks.

Nintendo has done things right for years and there is no doubt that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will be another hit for the gaming company that can't seem to do any wrong.

What Is the New Playstation Vita by Sony?

Everyone is talking about the new upcoming game console by Sony, which is Playstation Vita that is going to be released late this year. Get in the know and find out what people have been talking about, and why. This article discusses the fuss about this new handheld game console.

In early 2011, everyone was so excited about this new upcoming handheld game console by Sony, which back then was codenamed Sony NGP, or Sony Next Generation Portable. In June 2011, during the E3 Expo (Electronics Entertainment Expo) that took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Sony announced that the official name for this new handheld game console will be Playstation Vita, also called PS Vita, sometimes also written as PSVita, without the space in between the word PS and Vita.

Critics have good praise for this device, with most game critics citing that it will probably be the best handheld console out there that will defeat Nintendo 3DS (also called 3DS) hands down, and Nintendo 3DS was only launched February this year (Japan) and March this year in North America. Playstation Vita, or PS Vita is speculated to take most of the market share from Nintendo 3DS when it is released. The official release date for this console still has not been announced yet, as of now. However, many have speculated that the console will be released as early as November this year in Europe, and probably after Christmas this year in North America. However, this is only speculation and we are yet to hear from Sony official representatives regarding the release dates. Many have expressed their disappointment to the rumor that this console will not be launched before Christmas. Many are hoping to get this console for Christmas as a Christmas present.

Some die-hard Apple iPhone fans may not like this game console though, thinking that this gaming device is a 'threat' to their beloved iPhone (even though both products clearly have different target market than PS Vita). Whatever it is, PS Vita is already climbing the chart in Video Games category on pre-order on Amazon.com and many other online retailer websites like Best Buy.

If you are a casual gamer there's a chance you won't like this device though, as this device is probably built with 'hardcore gamers' in mind. This device is clearly targeting 'gamers' who are always looking for new features and looking for maximum gaming experience. Since PS Vita also allows you to save and play your PS3 games on it, this will be a really great feature for gamers alike.

Mafia Wars Game

Mafia Wars is a highly addictive multiplayer browser game created by Zynga, and is being played by millions of players around the world on social networking sites such as Tagged, Facebook, and Twitter. It is also quite a challenge to master Mafia Wars because of the large number of crew member in rival families. Oops! Looks like I was getting ahead of myself. Let's get down to the basics first.

Gameplay consists of doing jobs which requires a pool of energy. Fighting with other players requires health and stamina. The energy, health, and stamina requirements vary with the character class you select. There are three character classes, and they are called Mogul, Fearless, and Maniac. Once you open an account you will have to select a class for your player, and once you select one, you won't be able to change it back again. But don't worry, because you can always open a new account and start with another character class if you didn't like your previous character class. A quick overview shows that the Mogul character can earn more money, the Maniac character recovers energy quickly, and the Fearless character can do a certain amount of jobs for no energy at all!

Levelling up while doing jobs awards the player with experience points and godfather points. These should be used to increase your skills and weapon stats. There a total of five skills the player should develop. They are namely attack, defense, health, energy, and stamina. Having a high attack increases your chances of winning, because your attacks will be more powerful. A higher defense allows you to repel enemy attacks. Having more health allows you to survive longer in fights. More energy allows you to do more jobs quickly and thus level up easily, and more stamina allows you to do more attacks without tiring up.

An important aspect is of Mafia Wars is to build up your crew, so that your back will be covered in an intense fight. You can invite friends from social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace. Request them to join you with a nice personal message with your recruitment link so that they wouldn't delete it as spam. Actually it doesn't matter whether your friends plays or not after joining because what is most important is the size of the family, but make sure it doesn't grow too much or you will have trouble managing your family!

You will start in New York first where you will have to build up your family while levelling up. You will take on various kinds of jobs, where you will have to buy different kinds of equipment in order to do each particular job. Remember to spend your skill points wisely based on your character class. Another way to increase your scores is by visiting the Godfather or by making a micropayment.

Once you reach Level 35 you can fly off to Cuba to start you criminal empire there too. There's also Moscow and Bangkok in later levels plus several new upcoming expansions too!

These are just the key points explained simply without going into much detail. Want to know how to master mafia wars? Just Click Here!
